Injuries to the feet and ankles can be among the most difficult to treat and permanently disabling work injuries. These include fractures of the bones of the foot/ankle, and tearing of the ligaments which support these joints. Treatment often requires surgery, which should be done by an orthopedic surgeon who subspecializes in treatment of disorders of the foot/ankle. These injuries often result in permanent restrictions on standing and walking. A foot or ankle injury, in the absence of any other permanently disabling injury, is considered “scheduled” by Arizona Workers Compensation law.
